I agree, somewhat, that one shouldn't be concerned with break-neck speeds if your in the cruiser market. However, I'd say speed and performance are important to most cyclists.
I never really thought of the Savage as "quick" until I test drove a Harley 883 last Sat. Cool bike, but sloooooooow. I test drove the stock 883 Hugger. While it is a great bike, I felt like I could run faster next to it! The carb felt like it was suffocating at the higher RPMs. If I owned the bike I'd do modifications immediately. It's that noticable to me.
After the ride, I got on my Savage and was impressed with the responsiveness and acceleration.
Even though I enjoy cruising, there's nothing like grabbing a handful of throttle and hanging on...
